Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Give us a call or send us an email and we’ll get you set up right away. It may take up to two weeks to prepare your diapers. A start-up kit, which is purchased for $55, will provide you with everything you need to make using cloth diapers easy (four diaper covers, two Snappis®, a deodorant disk, and rental of a diaper pail). You are welcome to purchase additional diaper covers and other supplies from us.
How do I pay for my service?
You will be billed monthly and we accept credit card, personal checks, and cash. During our orientation visit, we will collect the first month's payment (cash or check) and a deposit for the diapers. You will receive an electronic invoice each month.
Can I give Diaper Service as a gift?
Yes! Gift certificates for diaper service are popular and appreciated baby shower gifts. Gift service usually lasts 1 to 3 months, but you are welcome to purchase any number of months with a minimum of 1. For a long-term gift you may choose to be billed monthly. Gift certificates are nonrefundable.
How are the diapers washed?
The diapers are washed in commercial machines at very high temperatures. They are thoroughly sanitized and pH balanced to minimize the occurrence of diaper rash.
Do I have to be home when the diapers are delivered?
No. Simply leave the dirty diapers outside in a predetermined location and we’ll leave behind your clean diapers in a sealed bag. There’s no reason to be home or to answer the door.
What if I forget to put my diapers outside?
There is an $8 return pickup fee. The first time this happens, we will leave your fresh diapers without picking up the soiled diapers. If it happens two weeks in a row, we will be unable to leave clean diapers. Please contact us if you forgot to put your diapers outside.
Do I have to rinse the diapers?
Please do not rinse the diapers. Simply put wet diapers directly into the diaper pail. Before your baby starts solid foods, even soiled diapers go directly into the pail. After your baby starts solid foods the poops will generally be solid. Drop this poop into the toilet to reduce odor and staining. If the poop isn’t solid, don’t worry about it.
What kind of diapers do you use?
We use 100% cotton prefold diapers. We have multiple sizes so that you get the best fit for your baby. These are absorbent cotton which must be covered with a waterproof diaper cover.
What happens with the diaper covers?
We ask that families be responsible for washing their own diaper covers. Diaper covers can often be used many times before needing to be washed. If they are not soiled, they can hang to air out while a second cover is being used. Most diaper covers can be washed with your regular laundry or rinsed clean in the sink.
What if I need more diapers?
You can add an additional 10 diapers each week for $3. If you see that you will need more diapers before your next delivery, let us know!
Is there a discount for multiple children?
If you are using our service for more than one child, please contact us about a discount for each additional service.
What if I go on vacation?
Please contact us if you are planning to be away. We will do
our best to help you plan for your vacation, either by providing extra diapers
for you to take with you, or by picking up dirty diapers before you leave. You
are responsible for paying for service while you are away even if you don’t
have diapers delivered.
What about holidays or inclement weather?
We will contact you with our holiday schedule a few weeks before holidays. If it is unsafe to deliver due to weather, we will let you know as soon as possible.
We provide 10 extra diapers free of charge. These diapers are
intended to provide a cushion in case of inclement weather, staff illness, or
other unforeseen circumstances that would delay regular pickup and delivery.
Can I use diaper creams?
Yes. However, please do not use Regular Desitin or Bordeaux's Butt Paste as we have found that they stain the diapers. Please avoid using any cream that includes "cod liver oil" as one of the ingredients.
How do I cancel service?
The first month of service is nonrefundable. You can cancel at any time and your service will end at the end of your current billing cycle. There is a charge for unreturned or damaged items. The costs are $3 per diaper and $20 for the diaper pail.
